Dhanteras is an important festival of Hindu, on this special occasion every Hindu worships Lord Dhanvantari and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity.

This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on 10th November. According to the Hindu calendar Dhanteras is celebrated on the 13th day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik.

The word “Dhanteras” is derived from Sanskrit words. “Dhan” means wealth and “Teras” means the 13th day. Hindu believe that on this day, Goddess Lakshmi will visit homes and bless people with wealth and prosperity.

On this day traditionally, people buy gold, silver, and utensils as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. This year, the best time to purchase valuables is between 2:35 pm to 6:40 pm, and Puja muhurat is between 5:47 pm to 7:43 pm.

The things that people can buy on Dhanteras:

1. Gold and silver: On popular tradition is to buy gold and silver Coins and Jewellery. As it is believed to bring prosperity to the household and family.

2. Vehicle: In India people like to buy cars and motorcycles on Dhanteras, as believed to bring success in journeys.

3. Utensils: Some people consider purchasing new copper and brass utensils as auspicious on this day. As a symbol of prosperity in the kitchen and home. Please don’t purchase iron and steel utensils.

4. Broom: Broom is one of the budget friendly items that everyone can buy, on Dhanteras is Broom purchased considered lucky.

5. Gadgets: Nowadays people are also considering buying Appliances and gadgets like Mobile and Mixture to enhance their comfort and efficiency.

6. Investment: Now a new trend of investment has started in India, people like to invest in property on Dhanteras and, this is a good idea.

The things that avoided on Dhanteras:

1. Avoid black color items:  We have  to avoided black color items, it is associated as bad luck on Dhanteras.

2. Glass Items: Due to various myths associated with them, buying glass utensils or items made of glass on this day is considered inauspicious.

3. Plastics Items: We have to avoid purchasing plastic items like Plastics bucket, Plastic Tubs, and all other plastic materials.

4. Avoid sharp Items : We all have to avoid purchasing sharp items like knives, scissors, or pins etc. it believe to bring Bad luck in our family.

5. Avoid to lend money : We all has to avoid lending money on this day like paying back loan or borrowing new loan..

6. Gift Exchange :In India it is common buying gift or Exchanging gifts with each other, We recommend kindly avoid this on this occasion.
